Missouri River Pedestrian Bridge - Omaha, Nebraska / Council Bluffs, Iowa
The City of Omaha is planning to construct a pedestrian bridge across
the Missouri River between Omaha, Nebraska and Council Bluffs, Iowa. The
project will be let by the Nebraska Department of Roads (NDOR) in accordance
with The NDOR standard Specifications and the Rules & Regulations.
The anticipated bid date is February 12, 2004. (Updated 12-08-03)
The bridge will be 2,566' long and will carry pedestrians on a 20' wide deck. The total bridge deck width is 23'-0" including railings. The approach superstructure will be a cast-in-place concrete box girder with spans from 105' to 115', which will be built on falsework. The cable-stayed main bridge will consist of backspans built similar to the approach spans and have a 500' main span that is built cast-in-place with form travelers using the unidirectional cantilever method. Foundations are anticipated to be either large-diameter drilled shafts or piles.
