Rulo
Bridge Study |
|||
Proposed Construction: Replace the Rulo Bridge over the Missouri River between Rulo, Nebraska and Holt County, Missouri. The existing bridge is aging, too narrow for modern standards, and has poor approaches. A new, wider bridge with improved geometric approaches is planned. The preferred alignment, called Alternative 2, for a new structure is approximately 625 feet south of the existing bridge. Lighting/Signals:
There are no traffic signals currently, and none planned. Roadway lighting
and signing will be evaluated during detailed design phase. In Rulo, left-turn
lanes are proposed at 1st Street and at the relocated Commercial Street
intersections. Right of Way: Acquisition of private property will be required to construct the project. Possible acquisitions for the bridge replacement project in Rulo include one commercial establishment and five residences, one of which is a historic residence. Phasing: Much of the new bridge will be constructed while traffic is maintained on the existing bridge. In Rulo, some detours will be necessary in order to maintain access to Ash Street and to build the relocated Commercial Street. Schedule: Construction is planned to take place over three years, and is not expected to begin for another seven to ten years. Estimated Cost: Approximately $24 million |
